Department Description and Role Overview

The London Finance function comprises approximately 70 staff. The primary departments are Billing, Business Control, Cash Office, Partners Matters, Salaries, Financial Analysis, Financial Systems and Reporting and Global Pricing. The department is responsible for handling all financial matters in respect of the London Office and the co-ordination of financial affairs in the international offices.


The Head of Pricing - UK is a role created to support the Pricing function. This position will lead our pricing function for the United Kingdom, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. The role will serve as a key influencer in the firm’s the pricing and negotiation process. This position will report to the Global Director of Strategic Pricing, but will also have a high degree of interaction with related functions across the Firm.


Lead, train, and mentor a team of managers and analysts responsible for supporting several client facing tactical pricing efforts and RFP responses; provide related strategic guidance

Work with partners and firm leadership to develop strategies for responding to the most complex RFP responses for large clients; drive related steps to ensure success and lead team efforts

Partner with department and firm leadership in the identification, design, development, and implementation of formalized strategic pricing initiatives and revenue enhancement initiatives

Ability to directly participate as needed in complex financial modelling and direct team activity in handling large complex datasets, KPIs, sensitivity analyses, and proforma financial statements associated with incoming pitches

Develop strategies and analyses around pricing and negotiation, AFA alternatives, and value propositions; directly support firm and lawyer renegotiation cycles with clients.

Operate as a Pricing Department thought leader and provide key presence to our team in the Firm’s London headquarters while ensuring integration with global support model.

Design active value based pricing models. Design and develop profitability models to generate partner, client, and practice specific business viability analyses.

Maintain an ongoing knowledge of Alternative Fee Arrangements and market and competitive knowledge

Leading promotional efforts including internal presentations to key stakeholders, external presentations to clients and industry groups, and article publication to increase internal adoption and market awareness

Participate on cross-functional teams across the IT, Finance, and Marketing Departments to develop knowledge management tools to identify opportunities to provide systems, support, and increase matter profitability

Position will be responsible for pricing team and activities in United Kingdom and Asia Pacific.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Training

M.B.A., preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Finance of related quantitative analytic field.

Law Firm experience a plus

Management experience required

General Attributes

Five (5) plus years of experience performing business and statistical analysis of legal data and reporting.

Five (5) plus years of experience in team management and leadership in a professional services firm environment

Subject Matter Expertise in pricing strategies for professional services

Strong working knowledge in accounting, statistics, and financial analytics concepts including P&L impacts, regression, sensitivity analyses, revenue lifecycle, gross and net profit margins, etc.

Experience in Corporate, Finance and/or Intellectual Property practice areas a plus

Strong analytical background working with large and complex datasets. Experience with business intelligence, analytics, and project management

Expertise in business continuity, process re-engineering, meeting facilitation, presentations, and leadership

Technical proficiency in software such as accounting and billing software,3E, SQL/SSMS, SPSS, SAS, Business Inelligence software and cube technology
