This is an exciting opportunity to join Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore (BMCSO), a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police and offshore sectors. Our fleet of 32 helicopters from bases across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland has been providing dedicated air ambulance support for more than 20 years and our police helicopters have been supporting UK communities for almost a decade. BMCSO constantly invests in new aircraft, equipment and training to ensure the consistent capability to deliver safe, dependable operational excellence at all times.
Headquartered in Staverton, Gloucestershire, BMCSO is a leading provider of aviation services for mission-critical operations across ten countries. BMCSO is part of Babcock International Group, a global provider of critical asset, infrastructure and training support to many sectors including emergency services, energy and defence.
BMCSO currently operate HEMS and Air Ambulance in support of the East Anglian Air Ambulance. Their role supports the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust in delivering enhanced emergency medical and trauma care across the region. This position is for an aircraft Commander, working in a multi-pilot environment, to operate HEMS and Air Ambulance missions, both by day and utilizing NVIS for night operations. The successful candidate would be required to reside within 45 minutes/25 miles of Cambridge Airport or make arrangements for accommodation at their own expense
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to hold an EASA ATPL(H) with IR
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
- 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
- 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
- 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
- 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
- 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
- Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.
Candidates would also ideally:
- Be qualified and instrument rated on both the EC135 and EC145.
- Current or recent HEMS experience.
- Have experience of NVIS operations.
What else do I need to know?
- To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be a British citizen, European Economic Area (EEA) national, a Commonwealth Citizen or Foreign National with no restrictions on your stay in the UK.
