People Success at Version 1 is driven by Group HR, Talent Acquisition and Resourcing, Learning & Development and Organisational Development teams. This role is part of the Group HR team, which is made up of fourteen people, spanning across Edinburgh and Dublin. As an Edinburgh based HR Consultant, this role will report to the UK HR Manager.

You will build relationships with the senior managers and line managers across the UK, understanding our business and helping them get the best from their people. Your remit will cover performance management, employee relations, pay & benefits, policies and procedures, employee empowerment and projects. The work is hugely varied and changeable. While there will be plenty of opportunities for team collaboration, you will be comfortable working alone on tasks and driving and delivering project outcomes yourself. We would welcome applications from someone with a creative approach and a real passion for driving change in an iterative, agile way.

We split our work into two main areas; business as usual and continuous improvement projects. You will be someone who likes a balance of both elements. The work you do will be varied, business-focused, impactful, self-driven and enable you to be innovative and creative. In return, you should be prepared to work in an environment that is continuously changing, which can lead to ambiguity, and you will have a full agenda of activities, so you will need to be able to continuously prioritise and assess your workload. You will work closely with the rest of the team to create and enhance the moments that matter to our employees and ultimately ensuring we continue to be a great place to work.

One of the continuous improvement areas will be around data. As a business, we gather a huge amount of insight from our customers and our employees in the form of quarterly surveys. We also maintain datasets in relation to pay, promotions, headcount movements and many other datasets. Part of this role will be deriving insights from all of that data to support and shape the HR agenda in terms of what projects we should be doing. We’re looking for someone with strong story-telling and analytical skills that can see beyond the numbers and recommend solutions.


Strong Excel skills are a must. You’ll have to be excellent at using data and analytics to uncover insights, drive action, measure effectiveness, understand requirements, and in presenting it to others. You’ll be able to demonstrate examples of where you’ve made a material impact doing this in a previous role

You’ll need experience building relationships across all levels and areas of the business along with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and a strong written and spoken communication style.

You’ll need the ability to work independently but also knowing when to get the rest of the team involved - and likewise be willing to pro-actively involve yourself in group initiatives.

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must. You’ll have to be comfortable and familiar with using data and analytics to measure effectiveness and understand requirements, and in presenting it to others.

You will have experience of running and managing employee relations processes and have a strong UK employment law background; any experience with UK immigration processes would also be useful.

Ideally, you'll also have previous experience working with general compensation and benefits programmes and exposure to auto-enrolment pensions.

You will have experience in a multi-location work environment working effectively across a dispersed team and with a dispersed customer base

You’ll have demonstrated the ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while remaining cost-sensitive.
