Southend Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. The ICT department are currently going through a transformation and modernisation journey to achieve the 2050 vision of transforming Southend into a Smart City. The ICT function is at the centre of delivering new and innovative services to both the residents and visitors of the Borough. The Council are transforming to a new, future proofed ICT organisation which will offer improved quality of business and IT engagement with colleagues and customers. The ICT department aim to be customer centric, agile in delivery and viewed as Trusted advisors providing thought leadership and design thinking. To achieve this the Council are looking to appoint a forward thinking, self-starting and motivated IT Infrastructure Manager be the figurehead for delivering a mixture of BAU and project work.
Your new role
In this pivotal role, you will be challenged with optimizing IT team performance, managing 3rd party supplier performance, improving processes & procedures and proactively working to prevent production incidents. Your proactive nature and progressive attitude will see you responsible enhance the availability, performance and capacity of server, storage, backup, networking, end user compute and telephony solutions. You will also Provide insightful planning, preparation, development and successful execution of the IT infrastructure budgets, including the management, review and negotiation of vendor contracts.
What you need to succeed
Your previous experience of managing and delivering companies IT infrastructure supporting to a high number of users and knowledge of both on-premise and cloud solutions will put you in an excellent position to succeed in this role. You will have a real progressive attitude and look towards technology that can be of true benefit to the organisation, keeping an agile and strategic mindset.
