Research at the University of South Wales is focused on providing solutions to problems that affect society and the economy. The Research Excellence Framework 2014 reinforced the distinction of the University's research position with half of its research being assessed as of world leading or internationally excellent standard, providing practical solutions for culture, society and the economy. The University is intent on further developing its thriving, supportive research culture.

The University of South Wales has long had a reputation for delivering high quality training in therapeutic delivery and continues to deliver a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as short courses. It has also prided itself on serving the communities in Newport and across South East Wales and has established links and partnerships with many statutory and third sector organisations.

USW Therapy is the outward facing identity of the Therapeutic Studies subject area at USW. USW Therapy is a newly formed Centre of Excellence for South Wales in the training and delivery of therapeutic services. The Helen Kegie Centre for Therapies is the hub of this activity and is located at Newport Campus on the riverfront. However, much of our work can also be provided peripatetically. Many services can be delivered to organisations in-house or at other of our campuses, such as Pontypridd and Cardiff.

The School is now seeking to appoint a Professor to provide research leadership within the Therapeutic Studies subject area, reporting to the Head of School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies. The postholder will work with the Head of Research and School Management Team to deliver USWs research strategy. They are also expected to contribute to successful delivery of teaching primarily at postgraduate level, and to engage in research and public facing activity at levels appropriate to Professorial standing.

This position is based at Newport Campus of the University of South Wales.
