We are looking to recruit an Assistant Lake Warden to patrol Windermere Lake and relevant shore areas, monitoring usage and carrying out maintenance and repair work as required.

The role will involve supporting the Lake Wardens, the public and organisations/businesses on all matters relating to the operation of the warden service.

Other duties will include assisting with the administration of the LDNPA boat registration scheme, monitoring encroachments, providing a pro-active emergency support service and maintaining navigation aids and lifebelts.

It is essential that the post holder must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to swim.

A RYA Powerboat Safety Boat qualification is desirable or successful candidate must be willing to undergo training to obtain this qualification. A detailed knowledge of Windermere Lake and its Byelaws is advantageous. Candidates must have the ability to write detailed reports and witness statements, operate independently within laid down protocols and have effective interpersonal, communication and persuasive skills.

The successful applicant will be required to work to a variable rota, including weekend and evening work and in addition emergency cover may necessitate out of hours call outs.
