Job Title Lead Architect
The Architecture team for the Merchant Services sets the architectural strategy and technical vision for this Transaction Cycle, drives innovation and R&D and provides enterprise, data and solution architecture capability across associated business and functional areas.
What will you be doing?
Partner with wider Operations and Technology (O&T) community to deliver technology solutions, patterns and code-level blueprints.
Research relevant technologies and demonstrate their benefits by developing POCs where necessary.
Provide stewardship at critical junctures during implementation, ensure preservation of design intent in code and lead architectural code reviews.
Provide thought leadership and drive technology innovation.
What we’re looking for:
Experience of Solution Architecture, evidencing thought processes focused on long term technology development and driving and delivering architectural change in medium to large enterprises
Working knowledge of core concepts in Distributed Systems design, CAP theorem & corollaries, Enterprise Integration Patterns, EDA/SOA 2.0, Microservices-based architectures and Domain-Driven Design
Understand the needs and challenges of stakeholders involved in projects, and negotiate satisfactory resolution to issues surrounding technology investment decisions and design direction
Effective leadership - motivate, lead and encourage others regardless of position within chain of command and outside of direct reporting lines.
Skills that will help you in the role:
Strong grounding either in (preferred) enterprise-level software engineering (Java, C++, Scala), or in-depth, knowledge of Database and OS internals as core technical competency
Understanding of key considerations in Secure systems & software design, Resilience and High-Availability patterns for mission-critical applications, including multi-data-centre deployments
A life-long learner who freely shares information and experience and seeks knowledge from others
Work effectively with peer group in the business and across O&T community, identify customer satisfaction gaps through regular communication

Our environmentally friendly office is within 5 minutes of the local town, easily accessible from the M1, and we run frequent shuttlebuses to and from Northampton train station.
