Overall purpose of role
Responsible for making themselves aware of all the significant market risk positions and for performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of all material positions and risks. Report these findings to both group market risk management and business.
In particular this role is focusing on EMEA exotics equity desks and will require in-depth knowledge of the market and products traded.
Analyse risk on specific desks and put it into context of what’s going on in the market. Report findings to senior management.
Analyse and recommend approval/rejections for new trades, trade types and risks.
Drive infrastructure upgrades/development – ensuring we improve infrastructure and have an understanding of the changes and are able to explain these.
Understand the VaR, stress testing, and RNiVs assuring it’s appropriate, accurate, timely reported, and further developed in line with new regulations and internal guidelines..
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Will have to interact with traders on the desks and Head of EMEA Equity Market risk daily to ensure we are well informed about positions and upcoming events.
On an ad-hoc basis to interact with more senior people on escalation items.
The candidate needs to be able to build strong relationships across departments including Front office, IT, Product Control and trade support.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
The role is technical in nature and would expect candidate to understand when to escalate questions/issues and when it can be solved appropriately without escalation.
The role is key in ensuring appropriate risk taking so vital that the candidate has in-depth knowledge of the equity markets and equity products and is able to on own initiative drill into and investigate risk.
The candidate need to be able to challenge the desk so risk taking is appropriate and so we ensure appropriate risk measures in a controlled environment..

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
At minimum a BSc in a mathematical discipline
Appreciation and understanding of financial markets, equity products, and models used for pricing/risking.
Equity Risk Management experience
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
Use of Excel macros to build reporting and analysis tools
Experience of working against tight short-term deadlines in a dynamic, pressurized environment.
