Our client based in Poole is seeking a Design Engineer to join their expanding team
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Design Engineer to join a global leading manufacturing company based in Poole Dorset. As an OEM machine manufacturer, this role will have a number of briefs to continuously improve the function and efficiency of our machines alongside reducing the overall cost of the products to manufacture.
The role will also have involvement with the new product development design, while working within the engineering framework of product improvement to ensure that we continue to have a high quality innovative and competitive range of products.

Key duties and responsibilities:
? Constant interrogation of product design to identify and implement cost savings and performance improvement.
? Use of Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling software to design components and detail manufacture drawings for our suppliers to work to.
? Use of AutoCAD to produce and amend 2D drawings.
? Be a part of the technical support structure and liaise closely with Manufacturing, Service Sales and Marketing.
? Assist with the integration of our current technical drawing library and all new designs into the business SharePoint site.
? Analysing and developing solutions to design issues raised by production during manufacture and our field service team during maintenance and repair of our existing products.
? Prototyping and building of test rigs, to evaluate design concepts and collate these finding in reports.
? The production and maintenance of technical documentation as required including: - - CAD drawings, costing data, technical construction files, design calculations, bills of materials, technical specifications, test data, assembly instructions, Installation and service instructions and quality control critical check lists.
? Assist where necessary with our new product development programme.
? To ensure that products meet health & safety and applicable legislation standards.

Essential Criteria:
? A good understanding of electromechanical systems.
? Product design experience with a variety of materials, and using a range of manufacturing techniques.
? Experience of working with a 3D design package (preferably Autodesk Inventor).
? Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively both externally and internally across the whole business.
? Calm under pressure and the ability to multi task while meeting tight deadlines
? Good attention to detail
? Commercially astute

Desired Criteria:
? Although the role is largely mechanically biased, previous experience with electronics and electrics including software programming is of an advantage
