We have an exciting opportunity for an Oracle Database Administrator to support our team in Northampton. Infrastructure Services’ Platform-as-a-Service (PAAS), Service Ops Oracle group focuses on a core skillset as 2nd line support for Oracle technologies within the bank’s estate globally, comprising both run the bank (RTB) and build the bank (BTB) activities. 



What will you be doing?
• As a member of the Operations Infrastructure teams, the primary function of the role is to ensure the Oracle & Sybase database services and associated support infrastructure and services are secure, robust, resilient and compliant to PCI standards. 
• Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production incidents (Sev 3 high, Sev 2 and Sev1)
• Define and drive the product strategy.
• Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, adhering to bank’s governance and control procedures.
• Provide on-call rota support where required
• Lead and define database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives
• Act as technical point of contact internally and externally for technical queries across Investment Bank regarding Oracle databases.
• Analysis of re-occurring incidents and identify service improvements where possible.
• Be an effective, proactive team member, influencing the behaviour of colleagues internally and across Infrastructure Services
• Deliver process and documentation around automated patching, estate patch-fit remediation processes.

What we’re looking for:
• Expert knowledge of database administration on Oracle.
• Ready to work in 24 x7 Operations. Expert in multiple versions of Oracle – 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c
• Expert knowledge of RMAN, Dataguard, PT, OEM, Audit Vault, plus third-party products such as Foglight, Precise, Imperva 
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices

Skills that will help you in the role:
