The company

DB Max is a growing and dynamic small business based in Melksham. Established over a decade ago, we provide race timing services and equipment for sports events throughout the UK and overseas. We also hold our own multi sport events in the South West and have recently started Obstacle Course Race events.

We are a performance driven business with an experienced team working together to deliver accurate, reliable and effective services. This year we’ll manage over 130 events with many more planned for next year.

The role

We’re looking for a capable, enthusiastic and professional General Assistant to work in our busy office.

No two days are the same in this role and you’ll have a wide variety of responsibilities across office management, finance administration, marketing, event administration and PA duties. It’s part-time (22.5 hours) over 4 days- with some flexibility, based in our Melksham offices.


Working closely with the other office based staff and the Managing Director you will be responsible for - - Ordering and managing office supplies and other deliveries
- Managing the office environment and visitors.
- Allocating job codes and processing supplier invoices
- Processing event entry payments
- Paying invoices, banking and liaising with the accountants
- Event marketing administration
- Managing the MD’s diary, booking travel and accommodation, research and purchasing and ad-hoc projects.
- Answering the phones and sorting post
Personal qualities and experience

To work at DB Max you’ll need to be a committed team player, be calm under pressure and love problem solving. Experience of working in a small business would be an advantage but being prepared to take on a wide variety of responsibilities and self manage your time, is more important. You’ll have some experience of working with senior management and previous experience of financial administration and working knowledge of a spreadsheet package (Excel, Numbers, Google sheets etc) is essential. Knowledge of Xero preferred.

GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above are required and we’d expect you to be computer literate with good written and verbal communication skills. We’re looking for someone with great time and organisational skills and the ability to make multi-tasking look easy.
