Dow has an opportunity for a Piping Inspector to be located at our site in Barry, United Kingdom.

The Piping Inspector role acts as a technical resource for the Inspection discipline. He/she works within the Global Maintenance Work Process to successfully deliver piping inspections to the required quality and frequency via visual inspection and NDT techniques.
The role also involves supporting the continuous operations at the Dow Performance Silicones Barry Site in South Wales UK.
Day to day role includes carrying our inspections of pipework systems at the Dow Silicones site in Barry UK.
Ensuring remedial actions are planned and inspection certificates are maintained.
Ensure that the integrity of all new and existing site pressure pipework complies with corporate standards, European and UK regulations and legislation, codes and standards for design and manufacture, and functional specifications to maximize containment and reliability of Barry site processes.
Act as a ‘Category 2’ inspector for ‘Major / Intermediate / Minor Systems’ as defined in UKAS publication ‘RG2: Accreditation for In-Service Inspection of pressure Systems / Equipment’.
Experience of 5 years as a maintenance technician or in a role with experience in-service inspection.
Knowledge of Safety, Quality Management Systems, Pressure System Safety Equipment Regulations and Pressure Equipment Regulations.
An ability to work in a multidisciplinary team of construction, maintenance and projects.
Excellent communication and work coordination skills.
Desired skills - but not required:
Understanding of piping isometrics, P&IDs and other engineering drawings
Understanding of different types of piping systems and their failure mechanisms (lined pipe, CUI, erosion etc)
HNC in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Materials Science.
Ideal but not essential - API570 Qualified Piping Inspector, but training can be provided as needed.
