Platform Capability Specialist (PCS)
The AMPS team’s primary objective is to stay in control and informed across the organisation of impacts to the TC08 landscape, ensuring that we remain compliant and in governance, whilst ensuring cost effective solutions are delivered and maintained, providing stakeholder value and maximised benefits. To define the strategy, planning and delivery approach for card platforms to provide best in class solutions to service stakeholders whilst providing and maintaining solutions at a price to maximise value.
What will you be doing?
Responsible for providing consultancy to the Solutions Architects in terms of the High Level Design document, to meet business requirements, in line with Cluster and Group IT Strategies and Architectures. Work with supply chain (including external) as appropriate. Provide Stage 0 Estimates.
Adding clarity to business requirements; challenge business requirements and demands to ensure high quality solutions are implemented
Assist the Solutions Architects to support the business in delivering its strategic objectives, providing added value through innovative thinking
Working with the relevant project managers, to review project design artefacts (high level and detailed designs) and the impact of significant change requests.
What we’re looking for:
A reasonably detailed knowledge and expertise of one or more specific technical platforms/operating systems within a mainframe environment
Good systems analyst/programming experience or working as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
A deep understanding of different project methodologies, project lifecycles, major phases, dependencies and milestones within a project, and the required documentation needs
Some experience in planning, estimating, staffing, organising, and ideally, working on multiple projects. Has experience of working with critical paths and identifying appropriate risks
Skills that will help you in the role:
Financial Services industry experience preferably within Card processing/Credit Cards
Working knowledge of Vision Plus, TSYS or TRIUMPH would be advantageous
Experience of working with COBOL, DB2, CICS or JCL
Understanding of concepts of service delivery and support
A broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies pertinent to Barclaycard
