Boeing Defence UK Limited (BDUK) was formed to synthesize the various activities of Boeing in the UK within the defence sector under a single business entity. As part of this integration process, a small, dedicated IT capability has been developed within the UK that can draw upon the considerable IT resources of the worldwide Boeing Company to deliver complex solutions to the business and its clients


An opportunity has arisen for a versatile and experienced Programme Management Office (PMO) Lead to oversee the day to day activities of a small PMO team and to undertake general PMO administrative activities.
The role will analyse project and programme resource requirements, manage and maintain a consolidated capacity plan for all live and pipeline projects across a large portfolio of change. This will include utilising Microsoft Project Server to produce a capacity plan that underpins the programme and project delivery plans, producing reports which define the current and projected capacity requirements for the project portfolio, identifying issues and constraints which need to be addressed, define scheduling options and solutions. The PMO Lead will be expected to refine the in-house project management methodology as required. As a part of a small team, within a very large enterprise, the role requires a broad set of skills and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability.

This position reports to the Boeing Defence UK Chief Information Officer with primary duties as follows:


• Support IT project managers in delivering projects using the in-house project management methodology.
• Provide practical advice, guidance and quality assurance across all projects within IT, ensuring that the project management methodology is adhered too.
• Support new project mobilisation; working with project managers on project scoping, organisation and preparation to provide a platform for successful delivery.
• Share best practice with teams outside of IT
• Maintain and generate the IT Roadmap.
• Oversee the day to day activities of the IT PMO team.
• Support & facilitate the weekly IT Project Review Board.
• Support & facilitate the monthly IT Steering Committee.
• Support & facilitate the monthly IT Change Board
• Support & facilitate the monthly IT Steering Committee.
• Document and progress IT Risks, Issues and Action items.
• Maintain a Master Project Schedule, providing input into capacity and budget management.
• Facilitate IT battle rhythm activities
• Investigate and drive opportunities for process improvement within the IT organisation
• Manage the CIO reporting responsibilities in to BDUK and IT International forums

Experience
• Previous experience of managing a PMO Process working to industry recognised methodologies such as PMI and PRINCE2.
• Project Management background; a recognised project management accreditation would be advantageous
• Highly competent in using MS Project, MS Project Server & MS Office products in general.
• Demonstrable experience of working with staff at levels, comfortable with conducting presentations and running meetings.
• Exposure to the Full project life Cycle - Waterfall & Agile Methodologies.
• ITIL knowledge would be advantageous
• A background of working within corporate environments, ideally with global coverage.
