Primary Teacher


One Year Fixed Term


The Gillford Centre PRU, Carlisle


Qualified Teachers Pay Scale + Special Needs Allowance 1 (a second SEN point available for a recognised SEN qualification).


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking teacher to join our team. Relevant experience teaching in KS1 and KS2 is required along with experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a mainstream or specialist setting and a commitment to the principles of inclusive education are essential.


The Gillford Centre Pupil Referral Unit provides education for pupils aged from 5-16 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, some of whom are at risk of exclusion or are permanently excluded from mainstream school.


The successful candidate will;

Be an excellent classroom practitioner

Be a positive role model to pupils and other staff, able to demonstrate high levels of motivation and enthusiasm

Be able to work as part of a team

Be able to form positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff and other professionals

Have experience of working with SEN children and children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in either a mainstream school or specialist setting

A desire to develop professionally


Visits to the Pupil Referral Unit and/or discussions with the Headteacher are encouraged.
