PRODUCTION MANAGER - POOLE - HIGHLY COMPETITIVE SALARY

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and safe delivery of the day to day operations ensuring overall performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability for the operational activities. Ensuring compliance, maximising efficiency and delivery for customer and business deadlines.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities (but not limited to)

•Planning and organising production schedules

•Ensuring that the production is cost effective

•Decide what resources are required

•Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed

•Hiring of shop floor staff & review worker performance

•Identify training needs

•Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment

•Liaising with buyers and staff

•Supervising and motivate shop floor employees

•Monitor product standards and implement quality programmes - ISO9001

•Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are fulfilled

Continuous Improvement

•Develop and deliver sustainable and quantifiable initiatives in manufacturing through the implementation of effective training. Lean tool techniques, process improvements, 5S.

•Build a network of improvement champions through the organisation to establish and share best practice, implementing a robust performance measurement system

Quality Systems

•Root cause analysis, elimination/mistake proofing

•Non value add NVA, reduction (scrap, rework, waiting, unnecessary operations)

•Design and build quality support

•Reduction in requirement for inspection and audits throughout the manufacturing operations

Person Specification

•Qualification or track record in Lean Techniques, with ability to problem solve to root cause.

•Qualification or track record in Quality Systems

•Strong people manager/motivator, ability to influence and motivate others

•Excellent oral and written communication skills

•Excellent time manager, able to plan and deliver to agreed deadlines

•IT literate (Microsoft Office Suite), MRP system experience advantageous

•Numerical/Analytical skills

•Commercial awareness, understanding of KIs, Cost of Quality, etc

•Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team or equally with minimal supervision/intervention

•Solid experience / proven track record (degree in mechanical engineering an advantage)

•Extensive managerial experience in a heavy engineering environment with demonstrated leadership skills

•Possess strong analytical and technical skills in order to understand and develop business practices.

•Knowledge of production practices and manufacturing techniques in a mechanical engineering environment.
