We are currently recruiting for a Qualified Programme manager for one of our most high-profile Programmes: The Fusion Foundation.
The Fusion Foundation Programme sits over many divisions of research conducted by the UKAEA, the overall Programme value is £184 million and consists of 19 projects with the purpose to develop our site maintaining our position as the centre of excellence for Fusion.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
Lead and manage the set-up of programme(s), ensuring appropriate programme and project management frameworks are in place
Responsible for the day to day running of programme(s)
Build a high performing, engaged, empowered and diverse programme team
Providing robust management of programmes(s) of budgets of up to circa £150M
Maintain oversight of programmes, particularly programme definition, delivery, and benefit realisation
The effective deployment of resources, through clear definition of roles and responsibilities, and oversight of projects within the programme(s)
Evaluating, presenting and making decisions that secure the benefits the programme is tasked to deliver, and aligning the programme benefits to the Organisation's strategic objectives
Resolving obstacles to strategy delivery, and leading the identification and employment of creative solutions to overcoming them
Working with key stakeholders to develop Programme strategies for delivery, governance, planning, control, risk and issue management, and quality management
Liaise with the business change managers affected by the programme
Manage the programme's risks and the dependencies between projects
Oversee effective communication within the programme, defining project and programme milestones and deliverable
Ensure all programme activities are undertaken in a systematic manner. With a Systems Engineering approach at the core of project output design for engineering projects
Incorporate the UKAEA Gateway Review Process accordingly into programme(s), and monitor projects within the programme to ensure they undertake Gateway Reviews during their development and delivery phase
Report of progress against milestones, changes, exceptions, budgets and other key performance indicators
Ensure that the project and programme SHE culture and working practices are in alignment with the UKAEA requirements
Liaise with other Groups and Departments to ensure effective co-ordination and collaboration across interfaces and competing demands
Responsible for the successful delivery of the new capabilities and programme closureProgramme Managers at UKAEA may be required to manage large scale capital projects or strategically significant projects.
Leadership of large programme teams
Track record of delivering complex projects and programmes to budget, time and cost
Passion for ensuring good project management practices and culture
A pro-active approach to health and safety, with good appreciation of UK compliance requirements in design
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound economic decisions that maximise value
Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills
Experience in working with a diverse range of senior stakeholders and external partners
Excellent people management, negotiating and communication skills
Experience of financial management of significant (£M's) budget
Chartered status in relevant discipline
Professional Programme Management qualification (e.g. Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or a proven track recordDesirable:
