Cramlington QC is a release testing lab of finished products and intermediates manufactured at Cramlington and also of Raw materials supplied to Cramlington to be used in the manufacturing process.
A position has become available to coach, lead and develop a team of analysts to perform release testing to pre-determined quality standards to meet customer requirements whilst maintaining the highest level of compliance and current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Responsibilities of the role are:
Ensure that all areas work within MSD and regulatory and Safety Guidelines.
Ensure the health and safety of personnel and that laboratory is operated and maintained to the required standard.
Ensure the maintenance of compliant status of the laboratory in accordance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
Assist in the maintenance of laboratory support functions in compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Recruit, train, develop and appraise personnel to ensure they are able to carry out designated tasks and the testing plan is achieved.
Coach and motivate teams on a daily basis to achieve departmental objectives.
Support and manage projects as necessary to ensure timely and effective completion.
Utilise existing financial reporting systems to manage resources within budgetary constraints.
Involve cross functional personnel in Continuous Improvement activities to generate cost savings on an ongoing basis.
Manage teams efficiently and effectively to execute predetermined plans in a timely fashion to meet performance metric targets.
Develop and produce GMP Procedures to maintain and further encourage standard practices and compliance status of the departments.
Ensure/support laboratory deviations/abnormal occurrences are performed within the time frame required and according to the SOP and to ensure all corrective actions/recommendations are completed within the agreed timeframe.
Required to comply with MSD Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day-to-day activities and all applicable job functions
B.Sc./B.A. degree required (science or related field) OR, Associate Degree with related technical industry experience require OR equivalent experience
Strong team facilitation, proven people management  and coaching skills
Planning and organizing skills.
Forward thinking and solution focused
Thorough understanding of supply chain/testing and laboratory functions
Ability to make good decisions
Good problem solving and decision making skills.
High level communication skills - written and verbal.
Good time management and prioritization.
Experience of working in a laboratory environment and a good level of technical knowledge of equipment and testing. 
Experience of Microbiology testing and management would be advantageous
