Description

We are currently recruiting for a Receptionist to work within one of our prestigious institutes based near Russell Square.


This is an ad-hoc temporary position. You could be called to start working within a 2 hour start time. Please only apply if you can be available to start work within this time frame.


Job Purpose:

To provide reception services, within buildings of the University Precinct, to a high quality supporting the academic, professional and public facing activities of the University


Job Content:

To staff the main reception of the building including supervising the main entrance to the building


Reception duties to including direction, assisting and answering enquiries from staff, students and visitors


To be aware of security risks and handle initial incidents with tact, notifying security if support is required


To complete written incident reports as necessary and forward these for wider circulation.


To monitor the public areas of the building and take remedial action to ensure visitors have a good first impression of the building


Reporting any building issues including maintenance, cleaning or IT issues via the help-desk.


To work closely with University staff and contractor’s staff to ensure a seamless and coordinated service is provided to all building users.


To maintain a good and current level of knowledge of Uol activities, staff, library and student services and current exhibitions. To be able to answer initial queries and know who to contact if additional information is required


To be aware of all Uol communication and escalation procedures and implement as required


To maintain a good general knowledge of the local area to be able to assist visitors. It is likely that general visitors only contact with Uol will be through reception and high quality and helpful interaction is essential.


To promote the University’s image and services wherever possible.


Managing signing in books for visitors and contractors


Keys issuing and recording as required


Supporting the administration and operations of room bookings; conference and events function across all venues as required


Answering telephones and emails


To be the focal point for staff, student and visitor support in any emergency including: fire, first aid, evacuation and to be aware of Uol escalation procedures


Dealing with car parking bookings


Lift entrapment: providing support as required and ensuring technical departments are aware


Maintain communication links by telephone and radio


General:

Training to include First Aid, Fire Emergency procedure, Customer Service.


To actively follow and promote the University of London policies, including the University's Dignity at Work and Equal Opportunities Policy and actively promote these wherever possible.


To maintain an awareness and observation of fire and health and safety regulations


Any other duties consistent with both the grade and scope of the post


Any other duties reasonably required of the post holder by the reporting manager.


Additional demands of the role:

This role involves shifts involving evenings, early mornings and occasional weekends


Full uniform will be provided for this role

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


Essential:

No specific educational qualifications are required but the post-holder must possess basic numeracy and literacy required to liaise effectively with staff, students and visitors


Hours - Full time, temporary position - 37.5 hours per week

Pay rate - £12.48 per hour plus holiday pay
