An opportunity has arisen for a Research Technician in the School of Health & Life Sciences, a multidisciplinary School, with a diverse range of biomedical and health-related research at the heart of the School’s activities.
Applications are invited from candidates educated to HND level or with equivalent experience in a similar role in a biomedical research setting, ideally with demonstrable experience supporting cell microbiology/parasitology laboratories. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of operational tasks requiring specialist skills and knowledge, in support of research and enterprise activity in the School. The role requires specialist skills in the application of various microbiological, cell/tissue culture and molecular/ cellular techniques to relevant tissues, fluids, primary cultures and cell lines in the field of Parasitology. Responsibilities include maintaining and monitoring facilities and providing training in relevant techniques. The post holder will have responsibilities for the safe disposal of potentially hazardous materials and will be expected to provide a research support service to researchers (academics and research students).
The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus with some flexibility to undertake scheduled activities at our other campus locations.
