Can you confidently communication and engage pupils within a classroom? Are you available for ad hoc secondary school support roles?

As a leading education agency within the Cheshire and Stockport area, we are now working in partnership with more secondary schools than ever before. As the new academic year approaches, we are now recruiting for exceptional education practitioners who are available to work on an ad hoc supply basis from September 2019.

Reed Education Stockport are now recruiting for Cover Supervisors to work within secondary schools within Stockport and Cheadle.

As a popular option for schools to cover short term absences within school – we are receiving more requirements for Cover Supervisors than ever before.

As a specialist consultant for secondary schools within the local area, I can offer Cover Supervisor roles on a daily basis – with most candidates working between 3 and 5 days per week. This is an ideal way to utilise your skills within an education setting, building relationships with those schools that are closest to you. By choosing Reed Education – we can help you get “your foot through the door” increasing your knowledge of education requirements and opening opportunities which may lead to more permanent roles in the future.

For 11 years I have worked within the education sector, developing excellent relationships with both my teaching and support staff and those schools most local to you.

“My consultant is positive, encouraging and professional. She has extensive knowledge of the local schools and gives prompt feedback from the establishments worked in. I have been given new opportunities which has provided me with the valuable experience I need” – candidate, May 2019

The ideal candidate will have experience within a classroom setting, however this isn’t essential and we are holding a Cover Supervisor Training Day over the next few weeks to introduce you to the responsibilities and expectations of the role.

An outline of a typical Cover Supervisor day will involve:

• To carry out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are absent from the classroom (normally the absent teacher will have left some notes for you to follow and deliver to the class)
• You will manage the classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set
• You will NOT teach any form of lesson but will leave handover notes for when the class teacher returns.
• You will cover lessons of all subjects

Although you do not require any specific qualifications to be a Cover Supervisor, you do need transferable skills, such as: good written and communication skills, the ability to form strong relationships, patience and excellent organisation.

Can you explain difficult things in a simple way? Do you have the patience, creativity and communication skills to encourage learners of all ability levels to flourish?
