The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for using their understanding of what categories, brands and products our new and existing customers are looking for to acquire and develop sellers on the eBay platform.
The Senior Business Development manager will work with the category lead to shape the annual and quarterly plan for the emerging verticals – business, industrial and collectibles – on eBay.
The Senior Business Development manager will work collaboratively with a number of different business functions to accomplish their objectives:
Inventory planning to understand patterns in demand and conversion of categories, brands and products
Merchandising and marketing to ensure the sellers and inventory they acquire gets visibility with our buyers
Seller marketing and programmatic seller growth – to communicate with and influence our long tail of sellers at scale
Understand our customers’ requirements and prioritise resources accordingly
Plan and execute new market development opportunities
Work with existing sellers to acquire inventory and support sellers who can accelerate category growth
Acquire new sellers who will add sought after inventory to the marketplace
Partner with central brand acquisitions team to acquire branded inventory on to the platform and identify 1st Party advertising revenue opportunities
Ensure that sellers are supported with visibility in promotional activity and marketing campaigns
Understanding and experience of the trade / business to business retail market is a preference.
Experience as a Buyer, Account / Acquisition manager, Business Development or Category Trading Manager
A hands-on individual of a “trading mind-set” who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and reacting to market movements and commercial opportunities as they arise.
Strategic & Analytical orientation: A keen strategic and analytical thinker with the knack of sifting through detail, and putting complex ideas into clear frameworks. Insists on proof in data, peeling back layers to understand root causes, and uses data to drive innovation and decisions.
Either Bachelor Degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing related disciplines and at least 5+ years’ retail industry experience; Or at least 5+ years’ equivalent retail industry experience.
Ability to balance execution across multiple workstreams.
Outstanding project management skills.
Professional verbal, written and presentation skills.
Results oriented, taking the initiative and ownership to make things happen on time, to a high standard and with high attention to detail.
Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills. Requires excellent ability to lead by influence and gain respect of all internal teams. Possesses a strong executive presence, who can represent the eBay brand in external relationships. Builds and sustains relationships across all functions and levels in an organization and externally, to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution of plans.
Hands-on team-player who is comfortable executing end to end, and prioritising tasks depending on business needs and urgency.
