Senior Occupational Therapist

About the Role

The Senior OT (SOT) is responsible for the delivery of effective Occupational Therapy services across multiple sites for adults who present with learning disabilities, mental health and complex needs.

As the SOT, you will contribute to the high standards of person centred care provided within the care group, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous individual.

You will portray the core skills needed to carry out a specialised role within a service catering for adults with dual diagnosis and complex needs.

Duties will involve the completion of comprehensive assessments, using clinical reasoning to select appropriate assessment techniques which lead you to identify client’s strengths and needs

As the SOT, you will be responsible for delegating an appropriate case load & providing clinical and operational supervision to OT Assistant’s.

Part of your duties will also involve devising, implementing and evaluating treatment programmes through comprehensive assessments of clients, using clinical reasoning to select appropriate assessment techniques.

You will be responsible for setting appropriate and realistic goals for treatment producing comprehensive treatment plans in order to achieve goals.

You will be expected to collaborate extensively with clients, carers and other involved professionals in order to develop highly specialised occupational therapy treatment programmes

You will assist with developing and delivering relevant OT training as part of the internal training programme

About You

This post would be relevant for those with previous experience in an OT in an adult LD or MH setting
Ideally you will have the ability to work autonomously across the group’s services delivering client programmes adhering to local and national professional standards whilst keeping the Lead OT informed.
You are expected to be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring effective communication takes place at all times.
You will have an interest and knowledge base of Occupational Therapy and its application within this specialist setting.
You will be kind, compassionate, take responsibility for your own actions and be keen to acquire new knowledge
You will have a degree in Occupational Therapy.
HCPC Registration is required.
You will be a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy.
