Part Time: 14.6 Hours per week (40% FTE)

The Art, Design& Museology Group (ADM) of the Department of Culture, Communication and Media comprises researchers, educators and museum professionals teaching Doctoral, Masters, Short-Course and Initial Teacher Education programmes. The team has a world class reputation for teaching, researching and publishing in a wide range of art, design and museology contexts. As a diverse interdisciplinary group ADM focuses on the interrelationship between education and the cultural sector. Working closely with other members of the Art, Design & Museology group (ADM) the successful candidate will develop and devise course content and lecture on a number of MA modules. We are interested in applications from someone with theoretical and practical knowledge and experience of gallery, museum and heritage education. We particularly welcome candidates who are familiar with the current challenges in the museum sector and itsrelationship with the 11-16 education sector. Highly desirable is an ability to promote Master’s students’ engagement with social justice education, an understanding of contested histories, heritage culture in a global context and the role of digital media in museum and gallery education. Working arrangements for this post are flexible but would usually be two days a week. The post is available from 16 September 2019 and is funded for one year in the first instance.

A doctorate (or close to completion) in the field of education / museum and gallery education / cultural learning. Proven ability to promote and sustain innovative educational work with young people in museums, galleries, heritage sites and the broader cultural sector. Experience of planning and leading continuing professional development for educators in the specialist fields of museum and gallery education and or art and design education is desirable.
