Salary: £24,029 per annum with potential to progress to £27,025 pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire

The School of Creative Arts is looking for an enthusiastic team player to support the equipment loan store and work as part of a customer-focused team. The area is busy all year round, used by all Creative Arts students and holds a vast array of equipment for all courses including Film & Television, Photography, Music, Animation and Fine Art.

Main duties and responsibilities

The post-holder will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the Loan Store, School equipment and software for timetabled teaching, research and student use. You will support and assist with the management of the equipment loan store, supporting teaching and learning for a wide range of staff and students. The key course area for this post is Film & TV however you will also support Music, Photography and Fine Art amongst other courses. You will provide specialist advice, guidance and assistance to students and staff when using University workshops/laboratories and other provision. This role requires manual handling, which will involve the daily movement of large items of equipment, such as tripods, jibs and jib weights.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will be someone who has considerable professional experience of working with a range of Film, Television and video equipment, including; cameras, audio equipment and grip gear. You will have experience of working within a customer-focused environment. It is an essential requirement of the role that you have manual handling experience. The ideal candidate would have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, good communication skills and have practical IT skills including the use of email (Outlook), MS Office and similar programs.

Qualifications required

You will hold A-level qualifications or an equivalent qualification or relevant work experience. We are looking for an individual who, in addition to this, holds a qualification in Film & Television or related subject.
