Various locations acrossEast Kilbride. You will be required to be able to work in all areas covering:- East Kilbride, Strathaven, Chapelton, Glassford, Sandford, Drumclog, Auldhouse, Thorntonhall, Blantyre

Hours available will be 21per week evenings only

£10.80 - £10.96 per hour - Salary depending on shift pattern - you will be required to work in accordance with a roster which include evenings and weekends.You will be required to work a shift pattern which is 7 days over 14 on a set pattern (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Saturday/Sunday/Thursday/Friday).

Additional increments for working unsocial hours will also apply.

The posts available will require flexibility of working across the locality to respond to service needs. Driving is preferred but not essential for these posts and vehicles will be provided where required. The home care service is often there to facilitate a person coming home from hospital faster to reduce the number of days they spend in hospital. They are also there to respond to service users in the community who become unwell. Previously these people would end up in hospital and what we need to do is respond with additional support over and above what they already get and with the support of health colleagues manage them at home and prevent their admission to hospital.

The successful candidate should hold a SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Social Care or be willing to work towards gaining these qualifications.

Interviews for these posts will be held in Council Headquarters, Almada Street, Hamilton and will be held as follows:

Applications received between 15th November 2019 and the closing date – if you are selected for interview, this will be held on Thursday 28th November 2019

If your application is successful, the anticipated start date will be week commencing 13 January 2020, 20 January 2020 or 27 January 2020. You will be expected to participate in a training and induction programme which lasts 4 weeks upon commencement of the post.


RequirementsCandidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.

All successful candidates will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) upon taking up post.

This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with childrenand protected adults.
