Salary: £30,563 to 36,499
Hours: 36 per week

We believe that every child and young person deserves the best possible start in life. Our aim is for Edinburgh’s children to be safe, healthy, nurtured, educated, active and respected.

Our children's practice teams are part of the locality model of service delivery, which sees Edinburgh split into four geographical areas. Our children’s practice teams are at the forefront of providing services to help children and young people and their families deal with difficult situations at various stages in their lives.

The Children & Families Hospital Service” (C&FHS) is a Social Work practice team which is part of the South-East Locality, comprising of workers who are based at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (RHSC), Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). Please note that the workers based in the RHSC will leave their current location in early July 2019 and will move to the new RHSC, which is based on the RIE campus at Little France. The successful candidate will be based in the RIE Team.

The main focus of the work undertaken by the C&FHS in relation to this vacancy is on pre & post birth child protection, assessment, rehabilitation and permanency work, often related to substance misuse. As a service we also work with a significant number of children with additional support needs and their families, due to disability or chronic health conditions. The successful candidate will be involved in a joint Duty system that will cover both the RIE and RHSC and will potentially pick up casework from both settings. You will be part of a small and supportive team with a commitment to professional development, training and regular supervision.’

A relevant Social Work qualification is required and you must be registered or be in the process of registering with the SSSC. In addition, a Certificate in Child Protection or a commitment to undertake the course is preferred. Experience in child protection, permanency work and self-directed support assessments is desirable.
