Software Engineer Based in Peterborough

Our Client specialise in the design and manufacture of control systems for a wide range of customers in the food and process manufacturing sector.

Role Summary:

Produce software programs both PLC and SCADA for process control and automation solutions primarily for the food and beverage industry.

The Software Engineer's role will be to interpret customer requirements and translate into the necessary programming to match the application. Where applicable the software engineer will work with the end user to generate a FDS or URS (Functional Design Specification or User Requirement Specification).

Once these documents have been generated then the software engineer will expected to either work alone or as part of a team to write comprehensive, bespoke code to successfully control the end users process as per design requirements, you may be required to write simulation code to allow for a SAT (Software Acceptance Test) to take place.

On certain projects where a MCC (Motor Control Centre) or other electrical equipment has been designed and built by others in the company you will be expected to be involved in the full testing of this equipment from a software perspective, ensuring all of the control loops and network interfaces are set up and working correctly.

You will work with an Electrical Design Engineer to resolve any issues before delivery to the client.

Skills and Experience:

* Experience within the food industry is an advantage

* Strong technical electrical understanding and experience is essential, preferably time served apprenticeship

* Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential

* Process Logic Control (PLC) and SCADA Experience is essential

* Testing and Fault finding to component level would be an advantage


As part of the commissioning process you will be required to travel within the UK, as well as internationally
