Staff Nurse

We are looking for a Staff Nurse to join our team.

We have been awarded an OUTSTANDING rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and have also been rated 5 by the Food Standards Agency.

• Assists medical doctors and works with other healthcare professionals to deal with emergencies and pre-planned treatment of residents
• Manages own case load
• Monitors residents progress, administers drugs and medicines, applies surgical dressings and gives other forms of treatment
• Participates in the preparation for physical and psychological treatment of mentally ill patients
• Leads the care team in the absence of the Care Manager
• Delivers training to care staff relating to nursing practice
• Ensure that appropriate individual care is given to each resident, in accordance with the Care Plans
• Help residents with problems of mobility and other physical disabilities (e.g. incontinence), helping with the use of disability aids and caring for the same, where appropriate
• Help with the organisation of social activities, and to participate in them to help promote residents’ physical and mental well-being. To accompany residents (where required) on community visits as duty rotas permit
• Monitor and control residents’ nutritional and dietary requirements
• Help serve food, assisting residents with eating and drinking as required. To prepare light meals and snacks when required and liaise with kitchen staff as necessary
• Care for residents who may be temporarily sick or needing nursing procedures. To assist in the administration of medication where required and in accordance with documented procedures.
• Monitor residents’ conditions, and report any changes to the Care Manager as necessary
• Help maintain a safe and healthy environment in Woodlands Nursing Home with due regard to appropriate Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Regulations. To ensure all accidents are reported to the Care Manager
• Read and write reports, and to participate in staff and residents’ meetings as appropriate
• Participate in training activities and courses as directed by senior staff
• Assist with End of Life Care for residents who are terminally ill
• Undertake other duties as necessary

Contract, Hours and Pay:

• £15 - £17 per hour
• Full-time, permanent contract
