Description

Staff Nurse Emergency

Are you a team player? Would you like to work for a supportive NHS Trust?

Portsmouth Hospitals Emergency Department is undergoing an exciting period of change and are on the search for passionate Band 5 Team Players, to support our newly developed Leadership team in delivering exceptional patient-centred care, within the 4 hours standard.

Within our Department you’ll gain a mix of skills by working within any of our 6 different clinical areas including an Adult and Paediatric ED. You’ll also be given the opportunity to gain new skills or sharpen previous skills like Suturing, Plastering, Triage and assessment of the critically ill.

We are proud of our team, and in cultivating a family-like supportive environment. We understand the importance of nurturing our nurses to be the best they can be, and we know how essential it is to provide learning and development opportunities. Education is our focus, it is the basis of all our improvement, and we promise to support you in whatever career path you choose.

So to reward you for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with:

- Full access to our 7 in house study days, run and taught by our experienced Nurses and Clinicians within our own department to help you progress in your career. You will learn everything form Minor Skills to Trauma Immediate Life Support.

- Supportive induction and supernumerary shifts, tailored to your needs and experience.

- Many opportunities for education and courses to build your current skills including, simulation and team building courses

- We will also support your professional development including leadership and management courses, with supportive mentoring

- Staff benefits which include childcare vouchers, on-site gym / swimming pool, cycle to work scheme, access to our Beach Hut, accommodation (subject to availability) and many, many more!

As a department, we know how important the development of a high quality healthcare system is to our patients and wider communities and we have a clear vision of how we can deliver on this in the future. That is why we are currently under way with an exciting new project of improving the ED Floor. Over the next 3 years, we will be improving the ED Floor to make it more efficient and effective for you and our patients. The “Emergency Floor” is a single point of access for urgent and emergency attendances – although in its infancy stage in terms of planning, we are excited to see the development of these plans.

So regardless of where you have worked previously, with or without ED experience, we promise you the support and guidance to ensure you flourish within our team.

If you are interested in a tour, or attending one of our study days to get a feel for what we can offer you, then why not get in contact!

What our current staff says?

“It has been an amazing, encouraging and supportive environment to work in. You need to step outside of your comfort zone and push yourself to learn and progress within the department, no one will do that for you, but when you need it someone is always there to listen and support” ……………Lisa Travers Ayre, Band 5 ED Nurse
