Role Context:

The office of the Investments COO is empowered by the Chief Investment Officer to work globally across all asset classes and enabling functions. It is a critical function in ensuring ASI remains a leader in active investment management across public and private markets.


The Global Private Markets & Real Estate Structuring is a team with a global remit. The Structuring Execution team is truly multi-disciplinary, covering Investment, Capital Markets, Legal and Tax components. This is a newly created role in a new function so a large component of the role will be to support the development of the Private Markets & Real Estate Structuring team. As a centralised team, a consistent structuring execution service will be provided globally across all asset classes: Real Estate, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Private Credit.


Role Purpose:

To enhance investment capability, offer a world class enabling function focused on delivery of fund and asset structuring and efficient transaction structuring to deploy capital in Private Markets & Real Estate

To engage with investment teams to establish strong embedded lines within and aligned to the investment teams to support our rapid growth and delivery of investment performance

To engage with other key stakeholders across the product and investment lifecycle

To offer client differentiation through a multidisciplinary approach


Key Outcomes / Responsibilities:

The key outcomes of the role:

Enhance investment returns by enhancing and protecting alpha

Develop financing strategies in conjunction with the investment teams at fund and asset level consistent with the fund and asset strategy and RE & Private Markets House view

Coordinating Private Market & Real Estate transactions across the investment lifecycle

Support product development and innovation across Private Markets & Real Estate

Ensure the application of common process, standards, structures and lessons learned across asset classes

Adherence to house policy, investment policy, specific regulatory restrictions and building collaborative working relationships with central support functions including Tax and Legal to ensure ongoing compliance

Support the service all end-to-end investment management strategies across Private Markets & Real Estate activity

The Structuring Adviser will be responsible for the following key areas:


Vehicle suitability – ensuring investment vehicles to accept client money or deploy capital efficiently

Asset structuring – use of specialised instruments or corporate structures to enable capital to be deployed efficiently and investment risks to be mitigated

Asset financing – design of capital management strategy of an asset to ensure investments are capitalised efficiently

Ongoing support – align closely with the investment team to provide deep insight and proactively inform decision making

Manage key suppliers such as external legal counsel

Incumbent would work across multiple jurisdictions and multiple fund types.


Role Specific Skills and Knowledge:

Candidates for the role will have:

A background in working for a world scale Investment Manager within Private Markets & Real Estate

Experience in liaising with Investment management teams

Demonstrate personal profile and credibility with key stakeholders

Ability to self-motivate, handle multiple tasks effectively and work within tight deadlines as well as motivate wider team with good delegation skills

Previous work experience in fund structuring including vehicle structuring, asset structuring, asset financing

Strong people management skills including recruitment, development and planning experience

The ability to think and act strategically as well having an eye for detail

Strong numeracy skills in a commercial context


Qualifications:

Qualified CA and/or Lawyer with not less than 4 years PQE
