Position: The Sub-Contract Manager will be based in Southampton.
The role that falls within the Procurement organisation is to provide Sub- Contract Project Management and Strategic Supplier Account Management.
It will involve all aspects of Sub-Contract Management from assessing the suppliers through sub-contract award to delivery and acceptance of the supplies and closure of the sub-contracts.
The role will be responsible for ensuring the suppliers meet the terms and deliveries of their sub-contracts and order commitments.

Key Responsibilities of Sub-Contract Manager:

+ To provide senior Procurement governance and subcontract leadership to multiple IPTs and business areas both internally for effective Life Cycle Management (Tender Vet, Phase Reviews, CSR's etc) and externally acting as a critical point of liaison with the supply chain to achieve delivery and margin for all associated projects.

+ The application and governance of Procurement and Subcontract best practice expertise and process in accordance with published UK Process.
Support functional and external audits as required.

+ On-Boarding Supplier selection and development and ongoing surveillance of strategic suppliers/partners in conjunction with category and supply chain areas.
Ownership and responsibility for supplier performance, relationships and the 'material' budget.

+ Development of strategic Suppliers and Partners.
Regular and strategic business reviews to support this and support performance requirements in line with functional need and KPIs.

+ Ongoing monitoring and surveillance of overall Supplier performance, not limited to delivery, cost and quality aspects.
Ownership and responsibility for Supplier performance, relationships and the 'material' budget.

+ Cross-functional input into IPT teams.
Adopting the role of IPT Procurement lead for allocated IPTs and programs, providing cross-functional input as required.

Experience of the Sub-Contract Manager:

+ A broad level of exposure at an appropriate level in the Defence or equivalent compliance driven industry.
+ CIPS, Management, Engineering and or Project Management qualifications are desirable+ Project Management and strong direct Supplier Management background essential.
+ Management of Contract and major subcontractors for long term, high value systems integration programmes.
+ Understanding of complex Terms and Conditions.
+ Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
+ Pro-active and results driven.
Able to actively balance the requirements of output and functional compliance.
