Purpose of Role

To assist the Pricing team achieve its goals in the following areas:


- Supporting the Underwriting Department in developing more profitable books of business
- Developing the Syndicate Business Forecast (SBF) and Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR)
- Assist in providing pricing support to the U/W teams during key renewal periods


Responsibilities


Strategic Analysis


- Support Class Underwriters and Heads of Division to develop more profitable books by:
- Performing analyses to optimise portfolios of insurance risks
- Assess proposed business strategies using scenario testing and other analytical techniques
- Identify and monitor key metrics to assess the success of the U/W team in meeting their identified strategic goals
- Assist in the development of the SBF and SCR
- Perform analyses that support the selection of parameters for the Capital Model
- Communicate and document work as appropriate


General


- During key renewal periods, to lead and assist in providing individual risk pricing to the U/W team 
- Ad hoc support of other members of the Pricing Team
- This work may include:
- Core pricing work such as Individual Account Pricing and Model Development
- Assistance with Management Information and Reporting
- Support for modernization initiatives
- Assistance with presentations, memos, and documentation
- Support for team meetings and meetings with Management
- Keep abreast of modern analytical techniques
- Identify ways to use them in the business
- Coordinate with the TALISMAN and INDEX teams as required
- Liaise with other analytical teams at Talbot and in the wider Group


Person Specification

Experience


No prior work experience is required, but it is requested. Candidates experienced in data manipulation and reporting or insurance information are encouraged to apply.


Experience in the following area would be beneficial as well:


- Strong skills in using spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge of programming
- Familiarity with Information Technology tools
- High level of numeracy


Qualifications


- University degree
- Preferably in a technical field (i.e., Science, Mathematics, Engineering)
- Minimum 2:1
