About RFT
The RFT Architecture team is accountable for the delivery, governance and Architecture of business change and technology transformation for RFT globally. We work in partnership with our business customers to develop and implement long term strategic IT solutions to support the realisation of the Firm’s strategic goals – Ensuring technology is deployed in the right way and to maximum effect is key.

Overall purpose of role
As the Risk Technical Architect, you will be working across the Risk domain supporting the CIOs & CIO Architects develop data architecture designs and ensure these comply with all relevant standards, principles and policies. This role is part of a wider team supporting the Risk, Finance and Treasury domains with responsibilities for design, design governance and cloud adoption.
What will you be doing?
o You will develop technical designs which communicate system requirements to software development teams
o You will evaluate and select appropriate software or hardware and suggest integration methods with a commercial mindset
o You will oversee assigned programs (e.g. conduct code review), provide guidance to team members and ensure the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure
o You will work with architects from designated parts of Risk, Finance and Treasury to analyse and identify technical solutions to the architectural challenges specific to their areas.
o You will ensure that the technical design is consistent with our wider RFT target architecture, our Data Strategy, and our Technology Strategy

What we’re looking for:
o Proven experience creating technical designs for the Risk domain and presenting these
o Hands-on experience with software development and system administration including: project management, service-oriented architecture (SOA), coding languages (e.g. JavaScript, Java), operating systems (e.g. Windows, UNIX, Mainframe), databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, mariaDb) and cloud (e.g. VMware, containers)
o Excellent communication skills
o Problem-solving aptitude

Skills that will help you in the role:
o Experience of Retail Banking, Investment Banking/ Capital Markets, Risk & Treasury Functions
o Passion for continuing to develop code
o Strong understanding on CICD principles and how these can be supported through cloud
o Experience with data science products
