Aspire Cambridge are recruiting for a Technical Lead on behalf of our client based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

This role provides technical and manufacturing expertise in support of supply chain, commercialisation, new product development, sales, marketing and regulatory compliance projects. To be effective, this role will lead the collaboration and communication between internal departments such as Quality, R&D, Innovation and Marketing and external such as first tier suppliers and manufacturers.

Indirectly leads first tier Suppliers to include routine and semi-routine technical support, problem solving, task completion, service level and pricing (cost-saving) improvements. Provides hands on support, guidance & expertise and trouble-shoots issues at our UK & European manufacturing and supply sites within the framework of regulatory and brand compliance.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates the manufacturing process for new products and products changes through to cross departmental sign-off
Organises and leads successful completion of trial production runs with first tier suppliers
Collaborates with Quality, R&D, Innovation and Operations teams to resolve supply and technical issues mainly related to primary packaging (e.g. new caps, valves, materials) and process/procedure inefficiencies (e.g. Data handling, communication methods with external suppliers)
Provide oversight of mainly primary packaging from design with external partners through to manufacturing (inclusive of trials) and issue resolution to deliver packaging solutions for new products, product variations and product improvements.
Provides support to the strategic direction, leadership and planning for Product Commercialisation risk management to include input on design, recommendations for improvements, implementation, documentation and maintenance of risk management programs that consider business continuity risk, cost risk, etc.
Skills and Experience:

Broad knowledge of aerosol and liquid filling processes
Broad knowledge of primary and secondary packaging design and manufacturability
Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate successful partnerships with external providers and internal project teams to influence in the absence of authority
Execute role and creatively solve routine and non-routine problems within defined protocols, "reasonable", standards and compliance requirements
Ability to be proactive in identification of improvements and identify and implement resolution of technical manufacturing issues and cost mitigation
Bachelor's degree in packaging or engineering preferred
5-7 years' experience supporting product- based manufacturing within Supply chain, Purchasing, Quality, NPD and/or Product Commercialisation.
5 or more years hands on technical experience in manufacturing, product development and/or trial production
3 or more years packaging manufacturing and design support experience
Broad experience managing projects related to packaging, supply, cost and quality improvement
