The Technical Training Team has recently restructured, moving from Learning and Development to Resource Operations, Murphy are seeking an experienced Technical Training Manager to mould the team and provide a best in service training operation which is fully compliant.

This would be an exciting opportunity to use your training credentials to expand the Operative Training Programme, liaising with external training providers and developing our internal Technical Trainers. Ideally, you would be based in Leeds, however we have offices in London, Birmingham and near Warrington. You will have one direct report – Lead Technical Trainer and report into the Head of Resource Operations. Are you up for the challenge of re-modelling our technical training team in construction?

Help to design, implement, manage and continuously improve the Learning and Development and Technical Training Strategy for the business, ensuring it is linked to the strategic goals of the business.

Be the company ‘expert’ on all technical competence and compliance learning & development matters especially in relation to skills development such as Operative competence requirements, CSCS accreditation, NPORS, CPCS and other industry related accreditations and competencies, as well as other relevant best practices and emerging issues.

Design, implement, manage and continuously improve an effective, internally run, externally accredited assessment centre for the whole business to offer nationally accredited programmes such as NVQs and other QCF technically related courses both at all levels.

Ensure the learning and assessment teams across the business comply with the relevant accreditation Quality Assurance requirements such as those from City and Guilds, the Institute of Leadership and Management, CPCS or CSCS for example.

Lead on accreditation requirements for bespoke designed in-house courses.

Maintain excellent relationships and communication with preferred suppliers - City & Guilds, IOSH, EUSR, CITB & CPCS & 3rd parties.

Monitor compliance with CSCS and other skills cards, and provide advice where needed.

Provide clear, accurate, and concise reporting and analysis on all elements of learning and development activity and staffing.

Work in the spirit of the company’s Investors in People accreditation, contributing to best practice.

Manage and coordinate the appropriate elements of the Investors in People process.


Industry recognised competence qualification such as Site Management CSCS Card, SMSTS, NEBOSH or relevant NVQ.

PTTLLS or equivalent training delivery qualification.

A1/NV NVQ/QCF Assessor Level 3 & 4
