Joining our HR team, the role of Technical Training Manager will be accountable for all course offerings and a robust evaluation of future requirements within technical training to ensure SMT stands out as the provider of choice for our customers.

The role will also be responsible for ensuring our apprentices receive an exceptional educational experience on our range of machines, technology and processes so they can deliver customer satisfaction to the highest standard.

As the Technical Training Manager, you will be responsible for;

Building technical competence through effective engineer training and providing an outstanding apprentice programme, engaging with our external provider and Customer Support centres.

Guaranteeing health and safety permeates all areas of training to increase participant understanding and engagement in H&S.

Promoting effective learning through the development of training material with providers such as Volvo Construction Equipment and collaboration with third parties to develop delivery tools and techniques to optimise the learner experience.

Working with Product Support to meet new product launch training requirements and new course developments etc.

Delivering some technical training courses, managing the training facility and other aspects of training delivery, equipment requirements, KPI's, reporting and associated costs.

Managing our Engineer Development tool (EDGE) to ensure it captures needs, develops competence and enables Engineers to progress in their careers with SMT.

Additional Information

Candidates would ideally reside in the Midlands area.
The position is homebased with time being spent in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, our Head Office in Duxford, Cambridgeshire and our Depots across the UK.

Essential Skills

The ideal candidate will be;

Proficient in technical training delivery and proven planning and organisation skills.
Highly skilled in identifying competence needs and delivering solutions with the ability to manage through systems and procedures.
Have a good level of (construction equipment) product knowledge and be proficient in the use of MS applications.
Be able to display exceptional interpersonal/communication skills, whilst able to demonstrate that they have a high level of energy and drive that delivers positive outcomes.
Will have qualifications or equivalent experience of working in the construction industry.
An understanding of the new apprenticeship standard and experience of working with Learning Management Systems.
You will need to have a full UK driving licence and the flexibility to visit our nine UK wide locations.Desirable Skills

A teaching qualification would be desirable.
Proficient in Experience with virtual training solutions would be advantageous.About Company
