We are seeking a Technology Transfer Officer to join our team at The Bloomsbury SET, a £5-million knowledge exchange programme sponsored by Research England under the Connecting Capability Fund (2018-21). The partners in this programme are The Royal Veterinary College (lead institution), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London School of Economics and Political Science, and SOAS University of London. The Bloomsbury SET (where SET stands for ‘Science, Economics, Technology’) aims to ‘join the dots’ between these HE partners, in order to accelerate the translation of research into exciting new products, therapies and services to help combat infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance.

The appointee will support researchers who are in receipt of translational research funding from The Bloomsbury SET. They will help these researchers to seek protection for their intellectual property, and to attract interest in their technologies from potential funders or investors. This will require careful planning and targeting of opportunities.

The Technology Transfer Officer will work alongside the Director of Research & Innovation Services and Head of Research Development at RVC, The Bloomsbury SET Programme Manager, Steering Group members and Knowledge Exchange professionals at each College. This is an outward-facing role that requires initiative, good organisational skills, a friendly personality and the ability to establish lasting relationships with funders and other partners. It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience of supporting technology transfer either in a university or research institute.
