Role Purpose

- Support Global Head of Traded Risk in creating a globally consistent offshoring strategy across Traded Risk. The Senior Business Analyst will work directly for the Global Head to define, document and implement the offshore plan for Traded Risk.


- The Business Analyst will provide support to Traded Risk senior management in ensuring the business operations and governance of Traded Risk activities are effectively and efficiently managed as well as undertaking bespoke technical projects.


- This includes adherence to Group and regulatory standards, the appropriate deployment of resources, the attainment of agreed operating plan objectives and the day-to-day management of business requirements. The Senior Business Analyst will assist the Global Head of Traded Risk in contributing to the strategic and financial objectives by providing key management information and reporting.


Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business


- The position will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist the Global Head of Traded Risk and senior management in contributing to the strategic offshoring strategy by providing key management information and reporting.
- Assist the Global Head of Traded Risk in providing high level of service to all relevant parties: (Stress Testing, GACHs, Regional Heads of Traded Risk, and Global Head of Traded Risk Process etc.) Interact with these teams as necessary.
- Assist and support the building and development of strong collaborative relationships between Traded Risk and all relevant business functions/offshore teams.
- Assist and support key projects to ensure consistency in policies/standards across WMR Traded Risk sites/teams and assist in the implementation of strategies to improve consistency where it is not already in place.
- Provide key analysis and management information as required to support key WMR Traded Risk objectives as above, to facilitate and adapt to reflect changes where necessary
- Ensure WMR Traded Risk Best Practice Guidelines and other applicable regulatory standards are met.


Customers / Stakeholders


- Global Head of Traded Risk, WMR Transformation, Global Markets Middle Office, Traded Risk offshore lead, respective senior managers of local sites in Traded Risk.
- All Global Markets Front Office Business areas.


Leadership & Teamwork


- Work with other areas within WMR Traded Risk Globally (Stress Testing, GACHs, Regional Heads of Traded Risk, Global Head of Traded Risk Process)
- Liaise and work together with key stakeholders.


Operational Effectiveness & Control


- maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external Regulators;
- understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the areas in which you are involved specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy
- Ensure that there is full compliance with the Global Markets FIM


Major Challenges


- Providing WMR Traded Risk with effective support to engage with the business areas in order to fully understand their requirements.
- Effective leveraging of WMR Traded Risk resources to ensure that business expectations can be met whilst maintaining appropriate control standards.
- Rapid escalation for issues as they arise.
- Establishing effective communication between WMR Traded Risk teams and stakeholders across sites.

Qualifications


Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications


- University graduate with numerate degree and/or professional qualification.


- Client focused, with relationship building, analytical and project management skills


- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills


- Sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally


- Keen sense of urgency - able to achieve results quickly


- Able to manage numerous tasks with continual re positioning and prioritization


- Ability to establish and maintain strong collaborative partnerships across HSBC


- High level of professional and personal integrity


- Good understanding of the financial markets.


- Good analytical skills


- Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis.
