We are seeking two full-time Turbomachinery Project Engineers to join the Oxford Thermofluids Institute at the Department of Engineering Science (based at the Osney Thermofluids Laboratory).
These posts are fixed-term for 18 month with funding provided by ATI/Rolls-Royce.
Over the past few years the Oxford Thermofluids Institute has significantly expanded its research capability with the research outcomes being used to ensure that future engines are ever more fuel efficient. This research project will study the cooling technology used in high pressure turbine blades to enable jet engines to operate at higher turbine entry temperatures. These roles will involve: design, procurement and installation of the upgraded test facility, day-to-day support of experimental test programs, development of measurement systems, communication and management of outside contractors and suppliers.
You should possess a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience. You should also have experience in mechanical design, heat transfer principles, engineering design and experimental testing.
