About Group Finance Directors Function (GFDf) Chief Controls Office

The GFDf Chief Control Office is an independent team in GFDf responsible for implementing and monitoring the Governance and Controls framework across the functions. Guided by the Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), 
the team works closely with teams across GFDf in developing, coordinating, establishing and monitoring a globally consistent control framework. This includes overseeing adherence to documented policies and procedures, 
and developing new initiatives to enhance the control environment and maximise efficiency.
The purpose of this role is to lead key GFDf CCO activities across Finance, incuding Financial Reporting Risk (FRR) controls reviews, delivery of related senior management information, and related Policies and Standards.

What will you be doing?
• Lead the overall process: define the standards for FRR controls reviews, including scope of (i) controls, and (ii) entities / businesses to be covered; and minimum standards of content and Group-wide consistency.  
Ensure the key objective that controls reviews provide robust review and challenge of key controls outcomes and related issues.
• Assess gaps in current coverage; agree, with the relevant entity controllers or other Finance leads, and implement plans to expand coverage.  Ensure that the process is adaptable to changes in Finance roles and responsibilities, 
and to changes in materiality of reporting entities.
• Ensure global consistency and overall quality of controls MI to the Group Financial Controller and Finance leadership.  Ensure that MI is adaptable to changes in the Group structure, e.g. resegmentations, Structural Reform. 
• Oversee multiple monthly Director and MD reviews of FCM MI to ensure issues are accurately captured and senior managers appropriately briefed in advance of the key review meetings.  
• Support the GFDf CCO in defining and documenting the key controls issues for communication to the Group Financial Controller, Group Finance Director and Group Controls Committee.
• The role includes direct responsibility for the escalation and documentation of breaches of, or other significant issues relating to, the FRKR policies and standards covered by the key activities, 
e.g. Account Ownership & Reconciliation, Group Intercompany Eliminations Accounting.

What we’re looking for:
• Qualified Accountant
• Strong background in functions such as control or internal audit and good working knowledge of financial accounting and products
• Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within Financial Control within Barclays, or similar bank, and knowledge of these elements in other parts of Finance and other Functions, 
ideally coming from experience in different roles across Finance
• Experience of working independently to improve and enhance a process

• Keen analytical skills and the ability to challenge current processes and develop recommendations for alternate solutions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at all levels
• Experience managing a team to tight deadlines as well as communication with senior members of management
