About Barclays Risk
The Risk Function is responsible for the overall management and oversight of risk management practices group-wide. It operates right across the organisation, and right across the globe to protect Barclays’ financial performance and reputation.
Our Risk professionals have advanced technical skills across a broad range of disciplines. They take the lead in addressing issues including the potential implications of an economic downturn or financial crime, and in advising Barclays’ business leaders in making measured decisions. Through dedicated support services Risk teams make a real difference to Barclays’ business clients by sanctioning loans and investments, and by helping to turnaround their fortunes when they are facing financial difficulties. We also provide peace of mind for Barclays’ Retail customers by protecting their assets and investments, whilst also protecting the transactions of our Barclaycard customers wherever they are in the world.
About CRIS IFRS9
Effective 1 January 2018, IFRS 9 is a new accounting standard (replacing IAS 39) that is expected to significantly change the accounting requirements for financial instruments. The most material impact of the new standard is expected to be on the way Barclays will be required to measure impairment, moving from the current incurred loss approach to a forward looking, expected credit loss model.
Since go-live in January 2018, the CRIS IFRS9 team covers the expected credit loss calculation on a monthly basis for Corporate and Investment Bank, Wealth, Treasury and ServCo portfolios through a suite of sophisticated models and technology solutions. The team is heavily involved in model output analysis, expected loss drivers investigation, adjustments to the input data and execution of controls while adhering to a tight TOM. The team is also engaged in the design and testing of the IT framework used for the expected loss calculation and reporting of the numbers that also accommodates SOX controls requirements. Frequent interaction with internal counterparties like Finance, Special Asset Management, Quantitative Analysis, Credit Portfolio and IT is also part of the team’s remit.
We are an equal opportunity employer and we are opposed to discrimination on any grounds.”
Overall purpose of role
AVP Capital and Risk Information Services will be a key contributor to the IFRS9 process, ensuring timely and accurate execution, high quality data analysis and identification of main drivers, execution and evidencing of controls, interaction with other stakeholders, participation in ongoing design and testing of IT solutions creating efficiencies.
