Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. The Council deliver a wide range of vital services at the heart of the community, as well as investing in exciting and ambitious projects that keep Southend-on-Sea firmly on the map. The Council are seeking to recruit a Workforce Development Coordinator to support administrative processes for the Workforce Development Team on a full time and permanent basis.
Your new role
A coordinator is required to provide comprehensive administration in support of team projects and services, meetings and events, bookings and evaluation processes of commissioned training. The role also requires basic budget management duties such as raising purchase orders and undertaking regular data collection and basic reporting in support of workforce development. Experience of composing, answering and managing queries via email is essential as well as advanced outlook, word and excel skills and confidence when answering and directing calls. You will also need experience of managing a shared inbox, using electronic folders and familiarity with web based systems.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you need to have a good understanding of Outlook, Word and Excel, be familiar with data input and ideally have a background or understanding of learning and development, as you will be required to assist with the booking and preparation of commissioned courses. This role requires you to be able to work well within a team as well as prioritising your own work with minimum supervision so the ability to plan and organise your workload is essential as the team work to deadlines. Great interpersonal and organisational skills are also essential as you will be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, coordinating meetings and training as well as undertaking general administrative duties. Experience of working previously as a training coordinator would be advantageous.
