When initially transferred to Sierra Leone, our facilities consisted of a flour mill producing flour, animals and a staff of 382. My mission was threefold: turn around an unprofitable situation; streamline production/create maximum efficiency; increase production to 75% extraction rate, versus 73%. In 12 months we delivered a substantial profit, which was sustained throughout the next 4 years. I look back with appreciation to everyone on the team who selflessly labored and worked long hours. We transformed the facility into a state-of-the-art operation. Our success also earned myself a promotion to Deputy Managing Director. It does not get any better than that!
