Essential Job Functions:
· Promote trust, respect, and teamwork among associates, with a positive attitude.


- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Responsible for actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
- Accurately and efficiently balance cash and non-cash store functions.
- May perform cashier duties and secretarial functions.
- Perform front-end duties according to company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Audit tills and handle vendor coupons, checks, money orders, and food stamps that come through the check stand on a daily basis.
- Record and reconcile cash/non-cash shortages on a daily basis while understanding and adhering to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and working honestly and effectively to control loss.
- Answer phone and take messages when necessary.
- Double check figures as well as those of the customer service managers, head clerks managers, and cashiers to find errors made.
- Keep an orderly set of logbooks, prepare additional reports as needed.
- Assist in maintaining the weekly over/short report.
- Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
- Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, fireworks, and videos)
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, practicing preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment, notifying store management of any items in need of repair and of customer or employee accidents.
- Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
- Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

- Ability to handle stressful situations

- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
