Project Background

Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass is the systems contractor selected by the Department of Defense’s Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives program to design, build, systemize, test, operate, and close a facility to destroy the chemical weapons stockpile at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, Kentucky. The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) will safely destroy 523 tons of mustard and nerve agent in projectiles and rockets. Neutralization followed by supercritical water oxidation is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the nerve agent, while the Explosive Destruction Technology will be used to destroy the mustard in the Blue Grass chemical weapons stockpile.


Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.


BGCAPP operates on a 24/7 schedule. This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends or holidays. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required.


Role Overview
The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) is looking for an Administrative Assistant at the Richmond, KY mall location to support the Acquisition Services department. This position will report to the Administrative Assistant Lead at the BGCAPP project.


This is a long-term assignment with a 4-10s schedule. The work hours are from 7:00 am – 5:30pm. This position may require additional overtime hours as deemed necessary.

Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide primary administrative assistance to the Acquisition Services department, and other departments as needed.
Monitor all follow-up actions required by manager.
May compose routine correspondence, gather data for special studies or investigations, and coordinate activities.
May participate in records turnover activities.
May prepare routine or preformatted documents, using standard word processing, spreadsheet, or other office software, as needed, to support work activities.
Coordinate internal and external meeting arrangements, to include facilities, equipment, video and conference calling services and catering services.  Set up, manage and maintain attendance rosters and assist in the preparation of hand-outs and presentation materials.
Distribute correspondence.
Process documents and information packages through project-specific security screening.
Prepare presentation materials for Acquisition Services Manager and others in department.
Coordinates with the government client, customers and stakeholders as necessary regarding acquisition activities.
Extracts and/or assembles data from reference materials either semi-technical or non-technical in scope. 
May process and or coordinate time records.
Schedule and update travel arrangements and prepare itineraries and routine expense reports.
Provide data entry into specific databases and maintenance of documentation for several initiatives and generation of associated reports and graphics.
May make recommendations for work process improvements, procedures, and practices.
Prepares paperwork and may assist in coordinating services for project or department moves.
Prepare Power Point slide presentations as needed.
Track and report the completion status of plans and procedures developed, written, revised and published by the department.
Maintains the department’s information portal on the Project’s web site including support for the project on-boarding and off-boarding programs.  Make recommendations to enhance website’s utility and functionality.
