Responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the Housing Division. Answers the telephone, greets visitors and provides information on program policies, rules and regulations. Determines eligibility of clients for Section 8 Program by reviewing the preliminary applications. Maintains a variety of records and files. Responsible for maintaining and updating waiting lists and for preparing and mailing correspondence to clients.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by applicable course work, and 3 years of experience in administrative work, or any combination of education and experience.

Some knowledge of Section 8 Rental Assistance Programs desired.

Must have considerable knowledge modern office systems, practices and administration, and have the ability to maintain moderately complex records.

Requires the ability to exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities for multiple tasks and work methods.

Personal computer experience using word processing, database, and spreadsheet software required.

Must have the ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy when assisting the public both in person and on the telephone.

Supplemental Information
This position is considered to be essential (County designation as ALPHA). As an ALPHA employee, you may be required to be on-call during emergencies such as hurricanes and to work in emergency shelters, or other designated areas as directed by the Emergency Operations Center.

Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines that include a typewriter, copier, facsimile machine, etc. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
