Primary Purpose of the Organizational UnitThe Department of Social Work has approximately 25 faculty and
staff who serve around 500 students in Social Work and Gerontology
programs. Close to 350 students are enrolled in the undergraduate
programs. The PhD program has 14 students and the master’s
programs have approximately 110 enrolled students.

Position SummaryThe major purpose of this position is to provide direct support to students, faculty, and other staff related to the Department of Social Work programs. This support includes running reports, use of office
technology and computer skills, course scheduling, customer service, and office logistics.


Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and CertificatesPreferred QualificationsAssociate’s Degree; one to two years related experience.

Essential TasksAid Business Services Coordinator in initiating purchases on behalf of the Department of Social Work. This includes utilizing eMarketplace (for routine orders and Purchase Orders) and UNCG Catering (or other food vendor).
Use Pcard in compliance with university policy, only engaging in allowable uses.
Process requests for travel reimbursement. Completes travel forms and checks travel form submissions for accuracy.
All processes shall be completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Reconcile time entry against ePrint.
Serve as a resource for Department of Social Work employees on how to complete time sheets in compliance with university rules.

Answer phone for main SW Department and direct calls as appropriate.
Maintaining and providing current and accurate information regarding the BSW and Gerontology Programs.
Communicating with professional staff to stay abreast of programs and upcoming events.
Answering questions fully, and refer appropriately.
Updating the bulletin boards, office directories, and checking any posted flyer areas for outdated content as needed.
Maintaining working knowledge of all University policy and procedures to support the daily functions, mission, goals and programs of the Department of Social Work.
Follow appropriate regulations regarding confidentiality in written and oral communication.

Primary liaison for the Gerontology faculty for undergraduates (minors) and graduate students.
Use appropriate software programs (including Microsoft Work, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
G.R.O.W.T.H. support – manage listserv and announcements for G.R.O.W.T.H events, coordinate catering/reservations, RSVPS, and event set up.
