ASSISTANT FINANCE MANAGER

Position:  Assistant Finance Manager
Location:  Bedford
Customer: Johnson Matthey
Salary: Circa £27,000 (Full-time equivalent)
Contract Type:  Permanent- 24 hours per week (3 days a week)

For the role of Assistant Finance Manager you will be responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in providing accurate financial and management accounts, management information and data analysis and carry out site administration tasks in a professional and confidential manner. You will carry out the role ensuring a high level of integrity and attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop good working relationships with all colleagues and Operational Management.         

Key Responsibilities in this role will include:

• Raise purchase orders and manage procurement card expenditure
• Weekly quick reporting - consolidating the input data, variance analysis and provide key explanations to budget
• Check payroll and process via Kronos system. Complete payroll reconciliations to explain variances
• Calculate and raise sales invoices
• Local level debt management - liaise with customers to ensure prompt payment of invoices
• Oracle housekeeping - run reports and minimise internal compliance charges
• Process agency timesheets and calculate purchase order amounts
• Manage supplier relationships and ensure compliance with DSC Procurement policy
• Calculate and post journals - accruals and prepayments
• Balance Sheet and Open Book reconciliations
• Provide clear and concise month-end commentary for actual spend vs budget
• Provide support to the Finance Manager for BRM and Budget submissions
• Prepare for OCR audits, ensuring procedures are in place and the contract is fully compliant
• Carry out any ad-hoc activities as and when required
• No direct reporting lines
• A key contact for managing the relationship with Accenture
• Ability to form strong relationships with the Operational Management Team on site

Key skills and experience in this role will include:

• Previous experience in DHL Supply Chain
• Previous experience in a Finance environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Good analytical and numerical skills
• Excellent MS Office skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
• Minimal travel required (
