The Department of Biology at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Cell Biologist to begin Fall 2020. We seek a broadly trained Cell Biologist who will thrive within Coastal Carolina University’s teacher-scholar model that emphasizes high quality teaching, engaged learning, and faculty research.

Teaching responsibilities of this position include Introductory Biology, Cell Biology, and Immunology, with opportunities to develop specialized advanced courses and engage with other components of the Biology Department curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research expertise in the fields of cell biology, immunology (innate or acquired), neuroscience, or parasitology. Successful candidates are expected to emerge as exemplars of teaching and develop a research program that can incorporate undergraduate students. Candidates must have a Ph.D.; prior teaching and post-doctoral experience is desirable.

The Biology Department has about 500 undergraduates, 10 graduate students and 25 full-time faculty. Undergraduate students earn a B.S. degree with a specialization in one of the following: Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Genetics, Evolution, Ecology, and Conservation, or Integrative Biology. Faculty in the department have diverse research interests and participate in the SC-INBRE network, as well as in an interdisciplinary M.S. program in Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies that have access to field facilities like Waties Island and Lewis Ocean Bay. The Biology Department is part of the Gupta College of Science which houses 13 departments, in new and renovated instructional facilities and research labs.
